Safety Harness Inspection (Competent Person)

This course is designed to provide skills necessary for the inspection and assessment of condition of Safety Harnesses, Lanyards and other work at height PPE.

Intended for

  • All persons who have to inspect and assess the condition of Work at Height PPE in the workplace.
  • Equipment users, Supervisors, Management, Safety Professionals and in-house Equipment Inspectors.

Introduction

Practical Experience is provided in the inspection and assessment of the condition of Work at Height PPE.

Participants learn the requirements for Care, Maintenance and Obsolescence for Work at Height PPE as well as being instructed on the inspection criteria for each category of work at height PPE.

Knowledge

  • Relevant Legislation
  • The requirements for "Check", "Inspection" and "Examination" of Work at Height PPE
  • The Characteristics of Textile, Plastic and Metal Components
  • Damage Types
  • Inspection Methods
  • Life Cycle or Longevity
  • Correct procedures for cleaning, maintenance and storage of equipment
  • Marking or Identification of work at height PPE
  • Documenting of Inspections - Sample inspection forms and storage of records
  • Inspection Frequency

Practical Skills

  • Identification of different types of damage from samples
  • Assessment of the scale of any defects
  • Sample inspection of different types of work at Height PPE

Assessment Method

  • Written Test
  • Practical Inspection

Entry Requirements

All candidates should have a basic knowledge of the equipment in use in their particular industry.

On successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a Training Certificate and Photo ID Card.
