Safety Harness & Fall Protection

This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary for the safe use of Safety Harnesses and various types of anchorage and connecting devices. This course ensures that delegates are competent in the safe use of safety harnesses, connecting devices and in the identification of suitable anchorage points.

Intended for

  • Persons who are required to work at height and who have to use fall protection equipment.
  • Equipment users, Supervisors, Management, Safety Professionals.

Introduction

This course includes a half day Awareness of Work at Height syllabus (The ACWAHT Syllabus) as the first half, then covers pre-use check, installation, methods of use and possible defects for different types of fall protection.

The course also covers modules on Suspension Trauma, Importance of Rescue, and the importance of correct sizing and fitting of equipment.

Practical experience of each method of fall protection is given in realistic situations of use.

Practical use of fall protection equipment to include:

  • Harness fitting and adjustment
  • Use of energy absorbing lanyards
  • Fall arrest blocks
  • Use of different types of anchorage devices
  • Use of harnesses with horizontal lifelines

Assessment Method

  • Written Test
  • Practical Exercise

Entry Requirements

  • A self certified statement of reasonable fitness will be required prior to attendance.
  • Candidates should not have an aversion to working at height.

On successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a Training Certificate and Photo ID Card.
