Power Tool Training

This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to inspect and operate Power Tools in a safe manner.

Intended for

  • All persons who may have to use Power Tools at work.
  • Operators, Managers, Supervisors, Safety Professionals and Trades People.

Introduction

Power Tools are hazardous pieces of equipment if used incorrectly, and are a cause of many accidents in the workplace.

Knowledge and practical experience in the selection, inspection and safe use of various types of power tools will be provided.

Course Content

Knowledge

  • Relevant Legislation
  • Hazards associated with the use of Power Tools
  • Causes of accidents
  • Types of Power Tool
  • Pre-use Inspection
  • Safe and correct fitting/installation of consumable parts (Discs, bits, blades, etc)
  • PPE Requirements
  • Workplace hazard assessment
  • Safe use of power tools
  • Storage, transport and maintenance of power tools
  • Tool specific information (Each course will cover 3 different types of power tool)

Practical Skills

  • Selection, inspection and use of selected power tools
  • Changing of consumable items

Assessment Method

  • Written test
  • Practical assessment of all tasks undertaken

None

Course Duration

  • Initial course is 1 day duration
  • Additional modules are 2 hours duration each.

Certification

On successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a Training Certificate and Photo ID Card.

  • Circular Saw
  • Electric Planer
  • Router
  • Hammer Drill
  • Core Drill
  • Portable cut off saw
  • Bench Drill
  • Magnetic Drill
  • Sabre Saw
  • Other power tools by request

Training Locations

Training can be provided at the clients' premises or at our state of the art training centre located at Crossreagh, Mullagh, Co. Cavan, Ireland.
